“Hey dude, you gonna check out the Sum 41 show tonight?”
“Hell’s yeah man! Everyone’s gonna be there!”
“Yeah it’s gonna be dope man, let’s go!”
You’d proably recognise those lines from the very low-budget music video for The Hell Song. Yeah, the Sum 41 show last night was dope. It was more awesome than the awesomeness of awesomity that defines the word awesome in the history of awesomeness. Even though they made us wait for a good 80 minutes or so, they did deliver a good show. As many say, they are indeed a good band live. One of the better bands who’d actually interact with the crowd unlike those who play solely for the sake of earning cash. And I loved how they didn’t solely stick to the same setlist as their other Asian tour dates. They change it abit at every show. Full of surprises. A very energetic crowd as well, especially when the boys played their classics like In Too Deep, Still Waiting, Fat Lip and Walking Disaster. The moshing and the crowdsurfing was real good. Better than A Day To Remember, in my opinion. Actually managed to crowdsurf alot further at Sum 41 than at ADTR. Haven’t really been listening to their Screaming Bloody Murder tracks with the exception of Skumfuk & Screaming Bloody Murder but when they did play some tracks from SBM, I gotta admit that the songs did have the Sum41-esque essence of a punk track. Needa ensure that I check out the record real soon. Was a real waste that they didn’t play Underclass Hero, Pieces and With Me last night. Was really looking forward to hearing Underclass Hero. A memorably gig nonetheless. The fourth of the year and I reckon the fifth won’t come so soon with school starting just a few days away. Unless by some good luck of fate, Blink-182 somehow decides to hit our shores, then yeah no gigs for me just yet.
